At-home Dog Grooming

Grooming your dog at home isn’t as hard as you probably think it is. Lots of people are already doing it. My goal is to have it look good when you do it! Here’s why you might want to learn:

  • Save time & money by not going to the groomer as often

  • Save frustration of being waitlisted or months out from an appointment

  • Save pup from getting sick (esp kennel cough)

  • Use it as a time to bond and connect with your pup

What’s included in the online dog grooming course?

  • Katie was efficient and made my dog Izzy’s look match her sweet and beautiful personality. She took time cutting a cute shaped face and got rid of matts. Thank you Katie for an awesome dog grooming experience. I highly recommend getting your dog groomed by Katie.

Frequently asked questions

  • Specific products are listed in the course. Get what you want as you’re ready to step into that skill. Table, clippers, shears, nail trimmers, combs, brushes & shampoo.

  • You CAN groom elsewhere (like on a counter or the floor) BUT it’s probably going to hurt your back and won’t allow you to restrain your pup as well. Which may just get you frustrated.

  • Even the best of groomers have or will cut dogs. It’s not what we strive for, but it happens. I’ll show you what to do and how best to avoid it in the first place.

  • My goal in teaching you is HOW to do it so you DON’T make your groomer mad. Fixing a home groom takes time at the groomer. If you do it like I show you, you won’t mess with their cut.

  • Then you can have more sympathy as to why your dogs haircut is expensive :) But beyond that, you’ll learn some restraint and techniques so you can help your pup be better on your table, and on your groomers.

  • If it’s small enough, bathe it in the sink. Of if you can get a grooming tub installed. Bathtubs are hard on your back, so ask a kid for help :)

Who is Kate?

I’ve been grooming since I was 15! That’s a long time ago. I began grooming at my Mom’s grooming shop, and would work there on Saturdays (which was great to get out of yard work at home). During my first year I won 3rd place in a grooming contest. I groomed a schnauzer, which remains my fave dog to groom.

When I moved out, I put myself through college by being the head groomer at Petco. I worked there for several years then transitioned to the vet world where my restraint and grooming skills were highly valued by all the vets I worked with.

I’ve been grooming off and on and then more full time the last 6 years. I groom out of my home, grooming on a one-on-one basis. I love the personal time and attention I can devote to my craft and my clients. They have all become great friends and confidants. (The dogs & people)

My goal in creating this course is to pass along my passion and skill for grooming. I can’t groom every dog out there, but I can teach others how to do it! I want to empower dog pawrents in knowing how to care for their pups from all my sources of expertise. This course exists for YOU!
